Abstract:

In this report, the gasochromic properties of the hydrothermally synthesized tungsten oxide nanoplates werestudied for the first time. To study the influence of temperature, hydrothermal temperature was varied from 100 to 180°C while keeping other synthesis factors unchanged. By the addition of palladium salt and then introducing the hydrogengas, gasochromic effect of the samples was studied. FESEM results showed the morphology of the plate-likes for differentsamples. Crystal structure of the samples was studied by X-ray diffraction analysis. Fourier transform of IR spectroscopyrevealed the hydrated and other chemical bond groups. Lastly, colour switching of the samples was compared togetherwhen they were put in the presence of hydrogen.
