Abstract:

Today due to air pollution, different filtration systems were introduced which they have advantages and disadvantages.Among the types of available filters, filter made of nanofibers is the newest and most efficient. Thus, making antibacterialnanofilter is very important because it avoids from growing of bacteria. The purpose of this research is the production ofan antibacterial filter made from nanofiber layer Chitosan (CS)/PVA. The Chitosan is a biocompatible, biodegradable,antimicrobial and non-toxic structure and the nanofibers web based Chitosan have both physical and chemical propertiesto effectively neutralize toxic pollutants. The mechanical properties of nanofibers web are very poor to use in filtrationapplications. To remedy this defect, nanofibers web could laminate into a strength structure layer. Finally, the best weightratio of CS/PVA was selected 30/70 and also laminating temperature was investigated on the nanofibers web/multilayerstructure. Optical microscope images showed that the nanofiber web began to damage when laminating temperature wasselected above melting point of adhesive layer.
