Abstract:

Cobalt ferrite nanopowders were synthesized by electrocrystallization method. The synthesis was carriedout in an electrochemical cell containing two iron electrodes, and an electrolyte solution of sodium sulfate, sodiumbutanoate, and cobalt sulphate heptahydrate. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electronmicroscopy and magnetometry. The crystal structure of samples was analyzed using XRD. Based on obtained resultswe found that the cobalt ferrite nanoparticles are formed in the electrochemical cell containing 0.007 M cobalt sulphateheptahydrate. The nanoparticle size, shape and morphology were characterized using SEM. In order to study themagnetic properties of samples a VSM with 1.1 T permanent magnet flux source was employed. The magnetizationcurves show that the coercivity of cobalt ferrite sample is about 0.04 T, which is much higher than the other samples.
