Abstract:

In this work, N, O-carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS) from origin chitosan biopolymer was synthesized andthen electrospun CMCS/poly (ethylene oxide) (PEO) (50/50) blend nanofibrous samples were successfully preparedfrom water-based CMCS/PEO solution. The electrospinning conditions for achieving a smooth and fine nanofibrousmat without beads were optimized via D-optimal design method. The synthetic CMCS sample derived from chitosanwas analysed by 1HNMR and morphology of the its nanofibrous samples were studied by SEM. The SEM micrographindicated that the optimized CMCS/PEO blend nanofibrous mats had smooth morphology without bead nanofibers.Moreover, nanofibers had diameter in range of 75-275 nm with average about 140 nm.
