Abstract:

In recent years, nanoparticles have been investigated as radiosensitizing agents due to their specificproperties and low toxicities. Among these studies most of them have focused on the doseenhancement properties ofgold nanoparticles (GNPs) in radiation therapy. The addition of gold nanoparticles (GNPs) to tumour cells increasedose due to their high atomic number, so making it a suitable radiosensitiser . In this study we use other Contrastagents with high atomic number such as Gadolinium oxide (Gd2o3) .Because of the high atomic number (Z) ofgadolinium, Gd2o3 can be used as a contrast agent, potentially aiding image-guided radiotherapy. for the purpose ofdosimetry we use Magic-f gel because of high melting point that makes it suitable for brachytherapy dosimetry. Theirradiation was done by Ir-192 because of its low energy (0.38 kev) in contrast with external beams, so it will increasethe photoelectric cross section which is proportional to( Z³/E³). The results shows dose enhancements in the presenceof Gd2o3 nanoparticles.
