Abstract:

One of the most viable ways to grow nanostructures is electrochemical deposition (ECD) technique. However, most electrodeposited samples are obtained by three-electrode electrochemical cell. We successfully used amuch simple two-electrode cell to grow ZnO nanostructures from an aqueous solution of Zn(NO3)2. Here, ECD of ZnOlayer on the fluorine doped tin oxide (FTO) coated glass substrate at room temperature in absence and presence ofultrasonic irradiation is investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). SEM images show growth of randomlyorientated one dimensional ZnO (1D-ZnO) nanostructures in presence of the ultrasonic irradiation. Also SEM imagesdemonstrated that the increment of the ultrasonic irradiation time, leads to defect formation in the ZnO layer throughenergetic bubbles collapse.
