Abstract:

Considering design of the satellites, there are numerous parameters involved so as to succeed in a mission. One of these fundamental considerations is the high-standard design of Reliability in the satellite devices. Attitude determination and control system (ADCS) is one of the important subsystems in satellites since any malfunction related to these subsystems will lead to failure of the mission. The attitude control subsystems in order to exert controlled torque need actuators. Reaction wheels are one of the most conventional actuators in space industry. Due to the importance of Reliability, by special arrangement of reaction wheels, the Reliability of these actuators will increase. In this paper, tetrahedral configuration is being analyzed so as to increase the Reliability of attitude control subsystems. In addition, the performance of control subsystems upon failure of one or two reaction wheels will be discussed
