A method is investigated for increasing the utilization efficiency of energy resources and reducing environmental emissions, focusing on utility-scale cogeneration and the contributions of nuclear energy. Nuclear power is safe, as proven by the record of half a century of commercial operation, with the accumulated experience of more than 12,000 reactor-years. Nuclear science plays a valuable role in helping us understand the history of environment and climate change - and what the future may hold. There is an extensive literature on the health and environmental impacts of nuclear energy generation and other sources of power. Summarizing this vast and rich material is well beyond the scope of this paper, and the focus here will be on relatively recent developments.
