Designing decisions is a must for the development of software architectures. During the different stages of designing a software several decisions should be made on which affect various aspects of the software, the quality of the software architecture, and its future design. This paper surveys empirical studies to provide information concerning the importance of design decisions and their influence on the architectural design yet on the quality aspect.
