Abstract:
Check yourself for injuries.
- Protect yourself from funher danger hy putting on long pants, long sleeved
Shirt, sturdy shoes. and work gloves.
- After for have taken care of yourself, help injured or trapped persons.
- Look for and extinguish small tircs. Eliminate fire hazards.
- Leave the gas on at the main valie, unless you smell gas or think it's leaking.
-Clean up spilled medicines. Baleaches, gasoline ,or other flammable liquids immediately.
- open closet and cabinet doors cautiously.
- Inspect your home for darriagc. Get everyone out if your home is unsafe.
- Help neighbors who may require special assistance.
- listen to a portablr, battery-operated radio (or television) for updata emergency information and instruction.
- Expert aftershocks. .
- watch out for fallen power lines of broken gas lines, and stay out of damaged areas. Stay out of damaged buildings.
- use battery – powred lanterns or flashlights to inspect your home.
- Inspect the entire length of chimneys carefully for damage.
- take pictures of the damages, both to the house and its content , for insurance claims.
- Avoid smoking insife buildings.
- When entering building , use extreme caution.
- Examine walls, floor, doors,staircase ,and windows to make sure that the building is not in danger of collapsing .
- check for gas leaks.
- look for electrical system damage.
- check for sewage and water line damage.
- watch for loose plaster,drywall, and ceilings that could fall.
- use the tepephone only to report life – threatening emergencies.
- watch animals closely. Leash dogs and place them in a fenced yard.
