Abstract:
In this research, Zinc Oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) of less than 50 nm in diameter were synthesized. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to characterize the particle size and morphology. The therapeutic efficacy of the ZnO-NPs on mouse mammary (4T1) carcinoma cells proliferation was determined by MTT assays. We showed that IC50 of the ZnO-NPs is significantly higher than ZnO, and ZnO-NPs significantly suppressed cell growth compared to ZnO. Our results show that ZnO-NPs are cytotoxic compounds for cancer cells.
