Abstract:

In fact, the Pressure Implicit with Splitting ofOperators-PISO algorithm is the Semi-Implicit Methodfor Pressure-Linked Equations-SIMPLE algorithm with an extra correction stage. In this paper, the SIMPLE isreplaced with the SIPMLE Consistent-SIMPLEC to form a modified version of the PISO algorithm called as MPISO. The MPISO is assessed by developing a 2D Cartesian finite volume colocated viscous incompressible code and simulating the cavity flow in a range of Reynolds numbers. It has been shown that, the convergence time is greatly decreased due to such a modification, which is of great importance, especially inthe case of high mesh numbers.
