Abstract:
Much of what we know about the properties of ion channels in cell membranes has come from experiments using voltage clamp (VC). In general, the method allows ion flow across a cell membrane to be measured as electric current, whilst the membrane voltage is held under experimental control with a feedback amplifier. In this paper using the noisy measurement registered from a VC system, newly defined fading parameters of ionic gates (sodium, potassium and leakage channels) are identified by applying the best linear unbiased estimator (BLUE). It frequently occurs in practice that the optimal estimator cannot be found because we may not know the probability density function-pdf of the data or even be willing to assume a model for it and faced with these situations, we resort to BLUE and it's sequential form which are suboptimal estimators. The fading parameters indicate the performance quality of ionic channels and they can be used as instrument for failure detection and in order to fulfill accurate estimation we use Hodgkin-Huxley model to obtain the time variant regressor variables.
