Abstract:

This paper tries to analyze William Golding’s Lord of the Flies around the Jungian psychology. In this study, Jung’s major theories of collective unconscious and its associated concepts are employed. In this novel, the major archetypes such as persona and shadow are found their traces and then footprints of these traces through dreams are explored. This paper suggests that how these archetypes influence on characters’ conscious behavior and show that their dreams try to speak with them and say what events happen in their unconscious but most of them cannot understand its language.
