Abstract:

This study investigated the relationship between sense of humor and burnout among a sample of 102 EFL teachers in private language institutes. Further, the contribution of sense of humor to the prediction of the amount of variance in teachers’ burnout was tested. The study employed a quantitative research method using a correlational design. The required data was collected through self-reported questionnaires and analyzed via SPCC. Correlation and hierarchical regression analyses were run. The findings revealed significant negative correlation between sense of humor and burnout. Another line of the findings showed that after controlling for demographic variables sense of humor can significantly and negatively predict burnout among the EFL teachers. Implications are discussed.
