خلاصه مقاله:
Ideology as set of beliefs resides in language in various ways at various levels and we don’t have to choose between different possible locations of ideology. This study attempts to investigate major differences among different translations of the novel 1984 by Hosseni, Sazegar and Bahremand and two translations of the novel Homage to Catalonia by Afshar and Aramesh in terms of different linguistic forms: addition, deletion and voice of sentence. This study also aims to find out how these linguistic forms were distributed by ideologically different translators before and after Islamic Revolution of Iran. Using CDA model proposed by Farahzad(2008), the collected data were analyzed. The study showed that among different translations of ineteen Eighty-Four, Bahremand's translation had the highest frequency of deletion, Sazegar's translation had the most frequency of addition while Hosseini's translation had only a few deletion. Considering different translations of the novel Homage to Catalonia, it was seen that Afshar's translation had the highest frequency of addition and deletion. The translations were not significantly different in terms of sentence voice. This study emphasizes that such factors as ideology, sociopolitical and socio-historical conditions affect the translation process and product and the translator's ideology is reflected at different levels of language use through linguistic forms.
