Abstract:

Many linguistic factors in translation and some determining fundamental theories of translation raised by linguistics during 1950s and 1960s. Among them the key notions are meaning, equivalence and shift, with the hegemony of structural and generative transformational linguistics. In this paper, some prominent theoreticians on the notion of equivalence have been introduced, grammatical and lexical categories, and differences in grammatical equivalences across languages have been elaborated on.
