Abstract:

This study investigated the effects of using supplementary visual and audio tasks on developing speaking skill of EFL learners. The subjects of this study were 40 elementary and pre-intermediate female students of two private institutes. Two pre-tests were given to 60 students in two different levels. These 40 subjects were chosen among ones that got high scores in each section than others. This study employed a Quasi-experimental design. During the summar semester, the supplementary audio and visual materials which were related to the main course and compatible with subjects' level , were given. The instruments that were used in this study are parts of films, conversational videos, and Songs. The performance of the subjects were measured through three dimensions of the oral skill which are fluency , accuracy and complexity. These performances were compared at two periods of time ,including beginning and end of the semester. The findings indicatedthat these materials with their exciting environment for the learners effected not only on their speaking skill but olso on their mind .
