Abstract:
The term globalization is often viewed as a multidimensional process which involves political, economic and socio-cultural levels reforming the role of many nations in relation to global customs and markets. As far as education plays a critical role in human development and because it is a crucial factor to achieve peace in the world, during recent years globalization has penetrated to the context of education. Globalization has made the life more competitive; therefore, in such a demanding and competitive world resources with high quality especially human resources should be used. Education will not be in high quality unless competent teachers are involved in education profession. This article presents an overview of globalization, teacher education, especially language teacher education, and the role of the language teacher in the age of globalization.
