This study investigatedthe impact of Crossword puzzle teaching on vocabulary retention of Iranian EFL learners at theIslamic Azad University in Behshahr Branch.The participants were sixty intermediate students from different faculties who were studying English for general academic purposes.Rightafter taking the pre-test, sixty students, were randomly assigned into the Experimental groupand the Control group. Through conducting a T-test the homogeneity of the two groups wasproved. During fourteen session's treatment, students in both groups were taught the selectedvocabularies.The results have indicated thatCrossword puzzle teachinghad astatistically significant effect on improving students ' vocabulary retention.
