Abstract:

In this research dispersabilility of βCD (Beta Cyclodextrin) as a biodegradable dispersing agent in dyeing of polyester with C.I. Disperse Blue 56 was investigated and compared with a synthetic dispersing agent named Irgasol NA. For this purpose the filtration method was used, so the spectrophotometric measurements of unfiltered and filtered dye solutions were performed to support the role of βCD as a dispersing agent. The effect of βCD in color yield was assessed and compared with Irgasol NA. The results showed that the stability of dye dispersion in the presence of βCD was better than IrgasolNA and dye bath without any additives. In addition βCD had no negative effect on dye ability of polyester at high temperature. So it was concluded that βCD as a natural substance with the ability in dye dispersion by formation of inclusion complex can be substituted with synthetic dispersing agent with low environmental impact.
