Abstract:
Although the number of women in the workforce is increasing but there is no significant improvement in managerial positions.The qualities of a successful female director are considered more masculine than feminine characteristicsand men and women usually accept this belief equally. However, research suggests that women are less likely than men are ambitious and want to progress, but false beliefs that management attributed to masculinity actually lead to the loss of female managers. The purpose of this study is to focus on the women currently working in the industry and explore their experiences in the work place. Seven interviews were conducted with women working in leadership positions in the sport industry. Their responses to the interview questions contradict previous findings. The results of this study show that women are overcoming the barriers that were set in the past and more women today are successful in management roles in the Sport Industry.
