In this paper, reconfiguration problem of distribution network has been performed to improve reliability and reduce power loss by placement of Distributed Generation (DG). For this, four reliability indices are considered in objective function; which are: System Average Interruption Frequency Index (SAIFI), System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI), Average Energy Not Supplied (AENS) and Momentary Average Interruption Frequency Index (MAIFI). The objective function is normalized by a novel technique. Other contribution of the thesis is considering fault rate and customer importance. This nonlinear problem is solved by Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm
