The Ni(II) complex, [Ni (phen)2 (Sac)2], where phen is 1,10-phenanthroline and Sac is saccharinato, has been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis and spectroscopy methods. The antimicrobial activities of the complex was screened by Disc Diffusion method and compared to the standard antibiotics. It was found that the Ni(II) complex has antimicrobial activity
