Abstract:

Wall analysis is the most important part in designing of retaining walls.Precise determination of pressure exerted on the wall results in high accurate designing. In this paper, a new formula is providedfor calculating active pressure of soil based on horizontal slices.This formulation can obtain the radius of circular failure wedge for frictional cohesive soils.Comparing the results of the proposed method with previous methods showed that circular failure wedge analyzes the retaining walls with higher accuracy.In addition, the proposed method has the advantage that it considers all soil parameters, such ascohesion.However, in previous methods,it was not possible to calculate the circular failure wedge angle for an adhesive frictional attic using horizontal slices method
