Abstract:
Energy and exergy analysis in a single re-heat steam thermal power unit is investigated. Exergy analysis is an approach which combines availability and thermodynamic analysis by using the energy concept to exergy considering the quality of energy. The major concept of subject is the exergetic status and deals with optimization. Here, the application energy and exergy analysis and its relevant formulation are developed for a case of a thermal power plant (150 MW reheat cycle). Main energy results in present research are presented and their advantages and disadvantages have been described. Important studies on exergy analysis and optimization of steam power plant are mentioned. Results of the current analysis show the difference in thermodynamic and exergetic operational parameters of the plant for the cases with and without the efficiency measures. The results indicated that based on the exergy analysis, boiler is the largest source of energy and exergy destruction
