The necessity of attention to ecosystem services in urban planning in order to reduce air pollution (Case Study: Tehran City)

The effects of ecosystem services on urban air quality depends on vegetation design and on the level of air pollution in the area. Vegetation design should be beside transportationsystems in cities. Tehran is a large city that needs to use this benefit for reducing air pollution. The type of vegetation is important for this design. For example, Trees provide the sense of aesthetics, shade, temperature regulation and air purification. The absorptionof pollutants is perhaps the most significant of these benefits that are directly related to residents’ health. In this paper, we mentioned the ecosystem services that play a role in reducing air pollution. Finally, we recommend that this design should be used in Tehran.
