Abstract:
One of the developments in separation technologies by adsorption is the use of newly- shaped structured materials offering some attractive properties instead of pellets or extrudates. Monolithic adsorbents have actually been studied in a wide range of applications. It is the purpose of this work to report the behavior of a square honeycomb monolith containing zeolite 4A crystals inserted by extrusion. Three partial differential equations obtained by mass balance for component i in the gas phase, inside the pore network, and on the surface of the spherical zeolite crystals were solved simultaneously using implicit methods consisting of pure implicit Crank-Nicolson implicit formulas by MATLAB software and the results show there is good agreement between the data obtained from the model and the experimental data.
