Abstract:
Gas turbine performances are directly related to site conditions. In recent years, inlet air cooling systems have been introduced to control air temperature at compressor inlet, resulting in an increase in power and efficiency. In this paper, the dependence of outside conditions for a simple gas turbine is studied, using absorption chiller and fog cooling method as inlet air cooling systems. A computer program in FORTRAN environment developed for this purpose with simultaneously calculations. We used, as case study, a simple plant equipped with one frame B gas turbine. This program is developed to consider effect of blade cooling on gas turbine performance. Effect of off-design condition on gas turbine performance exactly is considered. It was found that inlet air cooling with absorption chiller has great positive influence on power and less on efficiency of the gas turbine plant. Fog cooling method is more suitable for hot and dry conditions and has great positive influence on power and efficiency but in humid places, it is not applicable.
