Abstract:

The synthesis and characterization of semiconductor QDs of size less than 10 nm have been extensively studied in the past three decades because of their physical, chemical, and electronic properties change dramatically due toquantum confinement effects when their sizes become comparable to the Bohr exciton radius. This paper presents a facile solvothermal method of synthesizing copper indium sulfide (CuInS2) quantum dots (QDs) via a non-coordinated system using polyetheramine as a solvent. Quantum dots (QDs) of direct band gap semiconductor cadmium sulfide (CdS) were synthesized using aqueous CdCl2 and Na2S by microemulsion method at 303 K. By elaborate selection of solvent and protective agent, cubic PbS QDs with nearly spherical shape and average diameter of approximately 4.0 nm were synthesized. A facile one-step synthesis of CdTe quantum dots (QDs) in aqueous solution by atmospheric microwave reactor has been developed using 3-mercaptopropionic acid reduction of TeO2 directly.
