Abstract:

Accurate estimation of spatio-temporal variation of rainfall is of the important in hydrological issues. Therefore this study was held to investigate ability of extracted information from Digital Elevating Model (DEM) to improve spatial interpolation. Cokriging as a powerful geostatistical tool was selected to investigate mentioned issue. At first experimental variogram was calculated, then three theoretical models were selected to be fitted on experimental model. Gaussian, Exponential and Spherical models were selected as theoretical models. According to obtained results from their parameters, Gaussian was the best fit among them. The Gaussian variography based Cokriging also performed well in comparison to kriging. It was concluded that elevation features as secondary data in Cokriging Caused improvement in rainfall interpolation
