Abstract:
Gastric cancer ranks as the fifth most commonly cancer and is the third leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide and most fatal cancer in Iran.Specific symptoms of gastric cancer are seen only in advanced stage, therefore survival of patients diagnosed with advanced gastric cancer is low despite optimization treatment ways and molecular markers ara need for targeted therapy and therapeutic decision. Some long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been reported to be key regulators of tumorigenesis. Studies have shown that many lncRNAs are dysregulated in gastric cancer. SOX2 overlapping transcript (SOX2OT) lncRNA harbors SOX2 gene in its third intron and transcriped in the same orientation. Although potential involvement of SOX2OT in carcinogenesis is unclear, recent studies have demonstrated a correlation between SOX2OT and SOX2 expression. In this study, we have examined a potential correlation between the expression patterns of SOX2OT-S1 and SOX2OT-S2 and those of SOX2 in gastric cancer.
