Abstract:

determining the behavior of asphalt. Various methods have been proposed to identify and quantify these properties. In this study, a Uniaxial Compression (UC) test is conducted in order to measure the displacement and strain distribution of asphalt mixture. The UTM machine generates compressive stress over the asphalt specimen. Stereo Digital Image Correlation (DIC) as one of the most efficient image processing methods is utilized in order to analyze and calculate the asphalt deformation properties. Both displacement and strain can be estimated in different areas of the asphalt specimen. The results indicate the capability and efficiency of this method. A validation tool using LVDTs is also applied to verify the displacement measurement by using DIC approach.
