Abstract:

Novel magnetic polyurethane flexible foam nanocomposites were synthesized by incorporation of modified iron oxide nanocomposites with Tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS). Magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) and Fe3O4@SiO2 were synthesized via co-precipitation and sol-gel methods, respectively. The prepared nanocomposites were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), vibrating sample magnetiometry (VSM), thermo-mechaanical analysis (TMA) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The magnetic core-shell NPs were used up 3.0% in the foam formulation and the optimum percentage of the nano structures in the foam formulation was defined.
