Synthesis of imidazoline derivatives using nitriles and ethylenediamine were conducted in the Presence of 1, 4-bis (triphenyl phosphonium)-2- butene dichloride [BTPBDC] as a phase-transfer catalyst under reflux conditions. These reactions afforded the corresponding products with high isolated yields under mild reaction conditions and short reaction times.
