Assessment, Importance and application of premarital counseling and education: an analytical review of past researches

Marriage is one of the most important decisions of individuals’ lives, so importance of providing the necessary training to the next and reduce injuries such as divorce is essential. Not only it is important and worth attention in small scale for the individual himself but also in larger scales such as economic, social, governmental, mental health, and growth and nurture of children. The purpose of this study was to examine the approaches, assessment and practices of post researches regarding premarital counseling. Now there are several of different approaches to premarital counseling. A variety of these of approaches will be described here, including those used in church-settings, where the majority of premarital counseling is performed. Also there are a growing interest in premarital psychotherapy, counseling and educations 1970s in response to increasing needs of couples premarital couples. One of the issues which attracted researchers is premarital education and counseling. Different aspects of this issue have been developed since 1990s. Premarital education and counseling provides a cognitive space for mutual trust and a chance for improving human aspects. This paper discusses the importance and necessity of premarital education and counseling emphasizing studies carried out in this field. It offers a clear policy for future studies by analyzing available studies about premarital education and counseling. In previous studies it has been found that pre-marriage preparation plays a vital role in all factors of marital satisfaction. Findings of present analytical study indicate that pre-marriage courses are completely effective and necessary
