Management Solutions for Improving Transit Volume of Iran

The present research identifies the confirmed causes of delays and insufficient transit volume of Iranian transit routes and prioritizes management solutions by use of AHP technique .The present study completed at three stages. Firstly, effective factors on increasing transit time through Iranian borders identified within a review of the relevant literatures and interviewing with 10 transportation experts. Secondly, management strategies for decreasing transit time of Iranian ports and land boundaries recognized employing brain stormy technique. Thirdly, recognized strategies, prioritized by use of Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) with assessment of the Applicability, Cost and Resources by aid of statistic population of experts at Khorramshahr port. The ultimate results of the AHP technique indicates the priority of management strategies as following:1. Improving presence of private sector. 2. Investing in special economic zones and free trade zones of key ports in transit such as Shahid Rajaee port or Amir Abad port ; 3. Improving the quality of exploiting of available routes and rail connections; 4.Increasing political flexibility in region; 5. Renewing and increasing the numbers of fleets and Improving routes; 6.Expediting cargo clearance procedures and supporting of using electronic bill of lading (B/L).
