خلاصه مقاله:
This study aimed to investigate the impact of translating argumentative texts on enhancing critical thinking on pre-intermediate EFL students. For this purpose, 60 female participants were selected and assigned randomly to two groups of control and experimental after they were homogenized by KET test and Honey’s critical thinking questionnaire (2005).Then ten argumentative texts were given to both groups during ten sessions. The participants in the experimental group were required to translate the texts while the participants in the control group were asked to work on the texts in English and not translate the texts. After 10 sessions of treatment, the same critical thinking questionnaire was administered to both groups. Then the scores of the two groups after the treatment were compared and calculated by non-parametric Mann-Whitney U to see the differences, if any. The results showed that the level of critical thinking in the experimental group was significantly higher than the control group after the intervention.
