Abstract:

Today, the utilization of waste materials in constructions has become important subjects for researchers, due to cost savings and positive environmental impacts. Although, coal is the important and valuable energy sources for humens, but a large volume of coal waste can be seen around the coal mine and coal washing plants. Accumulation of these waste materials has become serious threats for humens and animals habitate. In this study, the new researches about the effects of coal waste and it’s ash on mechanical and durability properties of road pavements, has been reviewed. Acording to the results, with 5% replacement of coal waste in 90 day curing ages Roller Compacted Concrete mixtures, the mechanical properties improved. But compressive and tensile strength of RCC mixtures in every curing ages decreased with replacing 10 and 20 % of coal waste powder. Transport properties and freeze-thaw mass loss increased for the mixtures where cement was replaced with fly ash and decreased for the mixtures where aggregate was replaced with fly ash. Utilizing of coal waste and its ash in cold recycled asphalt increase marshal stability but decrease mixture fluency. Tensile strength increased for mixtures where 25% of filler replaced with coal waste powder, in both dry and wet condition
