خلاصه مقاله:
This study deals with the experimental determination of the rate of pollution and plutonium release from Chernobyl disaster (Ukraine), in the marine sediments, and biological samples of the Anzali and Astara ports in the south- west of the Caspian sea (coastal region) North of Iran. Chernobyl disaster which occurred in April 30th 1986 caused an environmental pollution in a wide area in our neighborhood. Chernobyl released 400 times the radiation of the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, once a city of 150/000, Chernobyl is now the world's largest ghost town. Regarding relatively high half-life of plutonium 238, 239, 240, which are produced because of nuclear testing and other incidents, they can be distributed in the atmosphere and gradually settle on soil, air, seas and rivers. The analyses performed by Alpha- spectroscopy of waste sediment and biological samples of the Caspian Sea show the migration of these radionuclide particles. The elevated Pu contents in the marine sediments and biological samples must be taken into account due to the close proximity of the Caspian Sea to the Ukraine province
