Abstract:

Due to load growth, aging infrastructure, and a competitive environment, innovative solutions are required by electrical utilities to enhance the utilization of transformers which are cost intensive. This paper proposed a demand response optimization model based on transformer hottest-spot temperature. In this study proposed a few scenarios to optimize current TOU program in Iran’s grid. These proposed scenarios try to get more coordination between designed DR program and load curve in warm seasons in Iran’s grid. Also, the impact of this coordination is investigated on life time of oil immersed transformer. Aging is calculated by an IEEE model for insulation aging. By limiting accelerating of aging could be postponed upgrading system and investment in distribution system. Significant monetary benefits can be achieved with the deployment of the proposed model in a real system by postponing investment in distribution system
