Abstract:

In this paper, a hybrid high-voltage gain structure for grid-connected PV panels is presented which consists of dual active bridge inverter along with advanced control system. The proposed structure consists of a dual active bridge (DAB) converter, a voltage multiplier and a 5-level grid-connected multilevel inverter. The DAB converter is joined the voltage multiplier using a DC-link capacitor. The proposed hybrid converter can increase the level of produced voltage by PV panel. The primary bridge switches of DAB converter are controlled using an advanced Perturb and Observe algorithm to extract maximum power from PV panel. To inject the active power and current to the grid in the proposed topology, model predictive control method is used. Using this method, the DC-link capacitor voltage is balanced well with lower value of voltage ripple. To confirm the validity of recommended structure, simulation results are provided.
