Abstract:

Water production management and selection the most efficient method in producing water wells is one of the major concerns during the production life of a well. Therefore, it is important to thoroughly investigate different scenarios in real reservoir conditions in order to create a successful oil field development plan. In this study, comprehensive research has conducted to distinguish the differences between various methods such as utilizing a horizontal well, using a water injection for reservoir pressure maintenance, an Electrical Submersible Pump and a continuous gas lift. The results show that in the current conditions, the continuous gas injection method is the most appropriate choice. In addition, the minimal oil flow rate required for the well production maintenance to be economically viable occurred in higher amounts of water cut. It was also found that if the reservoir pressure were to decline dramatically, using Electrical Submersible Pumps would be a more efficient way to control water production and improve production of oil.
