In order to design a three phase horizontal separator a combination of CFD method and semi-empirical model was used. Two semi-empirical procedures, Arnold and Stewart 2008 and Monnery and Svrcek 1994 were conducted to develop separator dimensions. A Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) method was used to investigate flow behavior and separator performance. In this work a combination of Volume of Fluid (VOF) and k-ε turbulence model were implemented. The results of numerical calculation in term of three phase velocity, density and the turbulent kinetic energy were analyzed. This outputs obviously demonstrated that the Arnold and Stewart semi-empirical procedures is more suitable for designing the dimension of the horizontal there phase separator.
