Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to investigate the patterns and space syntax of traditional houses which is affected by local climate. Since the planning and decision of traditional houses is affected by different factors such as tradition, culture, and regional climate and then collected during a long term of trial and error and genius of local builders who have knowledge about a certain area and then transform to a strong Architecture. Therefore, the main purpose of this study is the effect of climate on the planning and space syntax of these houses. Naturalism, Energy saving, using of solar energy in house designing, the absence of mechanical and electrical devices affect on formation of traditional houses. In many developing countries, it can be seen that changes resulting from the modernization cause the change in space syntax. Then the traditional knowledge and pattern which is smart responder for climate, is missed. The purpose of this study is to identify construction's techniques and design methods fit climatic factors in traditional residential buildings and use them in present architecture designs to decrease the energy consumption in a building.The method of this study is based on Library Studies and fieldworks and has a Descriptive approach. To achieve the desired goals, a number of Tabriz traditional houses that belongs to Qajar and the early Pahlavi period are investigated because of their Physical similarity. This study performed considering the climatic designing aspect. In the end of the study, principles which have the capability of generalizability to modern architecture are described.
