خلاصه مقاله:
The piston as the most stressed part among all automotive components, is exposed to high temperatures of exploded gases in combustion chamber. It is noted that the components subjected to high temperatures lose their stiffness and strength due to decrease in amount of Young modulus and yield point. Temperature distribution leads to further thermal deformations and thermal stresses. Application of ceramic coating with low thermal conductivity on the piston top surface will greatly contribute to reduction of non-uniform thermal deformations and stresses of an actual piston. In this study, the piston of gasoline engine XU7 which is widespread in Iran transport section is considered for investigation. A 3D linear static stresses analysis is constructed in COSMOS Works to determine the stress distribution during the combustion. Effect of coating thickness on temperature and stress distributions are investigated and compared with results from an uncoated piston.
