خلاصه مقاله:
Recently, aluminum, steel, and composite plates are widely used in the military, aerospace and car manufacturing industries. Thus, keeping these plates safe against ball and projectiles plays an important role in the damage and fracture mechanics. In this study first, direct impact of a rigid spherical projectile to an aluminum plate is numerically simulated, using finite element method. Next, employing Hooputra's ductile damage criterion existed in the ABAQUS software; the effects of spherical projectile on the plate are investigated. Finally, the effects of oblique angle on the projectile impact, area, and depth of the damaged zone are studied. The results reveal that increasing the oblique angle leads to decreasing destruction power of the spherical projectile
