Abstract:
Nano materials have recently attracted many attentions because of their considerable improvements on mechanical properties. In this article, various weight fractions of nano clay particles are used to reinforce polypropylene (PP) and ethylene-propylene diene monomer (EPDM) composites and their effects on impact behaviors are investigated. For this purpose, impact tests were conducted on the composite specimens and energy absorption capability for each specimen are investigated and compared. The results showed that the impact behavior of PP/EPDM composites vividly increased by nano clay addition. Fractured surfaces are also studied by eye inspection and high magnified camera to gain better understanding of the fracture morphology
