The Interaction between Ctenophore Mnemiopsis Leidyi Densities And Bacteria Population

One of the major problems that had negative influence on ecosystem of Caspian Sea is introduce of jelly fish called Mnemiopsis leidyi. The density of this species in same area is 1kg/m2. For evaluation effect of Mnemiopsis leidyi on bacteria population, different treatment of organisms such as zooplanktons, Mnemiopsis leidyi and Beroe ovata were provided in hundred liter tanks. The results indicated that the most count of bacteria were belong to zooplanktons, mnemiopsis leidyi and Beroe ovata (3.5 x 105) and the least population was related to zooplanktons treatment (1.1 x 104). The presence of polysaccharide layer in surface of Mnemiopsis leidyi give rise of regional bacteria and this bacteria use from polysaccharide as carbon and energy source. Therefore, the direct correlation exists between Mnemiopsis leidyi and increasing of bacteria population.
