Abstract:
Experimentally investigation of the effect of cooling method on surface roughness of C60 steel in turning process is main aim of current paper. In order to reach this purpose, dry machining, flood and minimal quantity lubricant (MQL) cooling methods were examined. Design of experiments was done by Taguchi method. The effects of cutting velocity, feed rate and depth of cut were also studied. The results show that MQL method has a positive and undeniable influence on surface roughness. The numerical finding exhibits MQL method improve the surface roughness approximately 35% and 17% in comparison with dry and flood machining, respectively. The surface by better quality was also obtained by setting high cutting velocity, low feed rate and medium cutting depth.
